Hickey Freeman x Fashion’s Night Out

Clothing stores across Manhattan and cities around the world were thronged with visitors eager to celebrate the fourth annual Fashion’s Night Out on September 6. But the GQ Magazine and Nordstrom event in SoHo was different than the typical boutique event. There, the best-dressed gentlemen were ready to celebrate one of the most anticipated pop-up shops NYC has seen. Outside, partygoers crowded around security, struggling to gain access. Inside, celebrities from Darren Criss and Aziz Ansari to Joshua Bowman and Gabriel Mann mingled with a crowd of fashion’s elite, which included Michael Bastian, Nick Wooster, Todd Snyder and the Ovadia brothers, Ariel and Shimon.

What lay beyond the glass doors was well worth the scuffle outside. The carefully curated store contained eclectic offerings from the best brands in menswear. Each piece was hand-selected by GQ’s creative director Jim Moore and Nordstrom Men’s fashion director Tommy Fazio. The idea behind the 6,000 square foot shop was to offer the best of fall fashion directly from the pages of GQ magazine. Brands like Gant Rugger, Dolce and Gabbana, Moncler and our very own Hickey Freeman and Hart Schaffner Marx.

The Hickey Freeman suits and sportscoats were designed specifically for Nordstrom and the GQ pop-up shop through a collaboration between the companies. “The inspiration behind the collaboration was to create pieces that represented authentic American heritage,” said Mike Cohen, President of Hickey freeman. On a trip to the Hickey Freeman factory in Rochester, NY, Chief Creative Officer Joseph Abboud and VP of Design Jon Morales personally chose fabrics from the factory to create one-of-a-kind pieces for the shop.

One of our favorite pieces for fall from the Hickey Freeman and Nordstrom collaboration is a light grey flannel stripe suit, which will keep any man looking dapper and stylish in the cold weather. And no man’s wardrobe would be complete without a great topcoat to throw over your suit on your way to work. At the shop you can pick up our grey speckled coat with a black velvet trimmed collar.

Check out the shop at 350 West Broadway, NYC till Sunday, September 16th. Some pieces can also be found online here.
